Magomed Ankalaev vs. Thiago Santos headlines upcoming UFC Fight Night card

A light heavyweight bout featuring top contenders Magomed Ankalaev and Thiago Santos will headline an upcoming UFC Fight Night card.

ESPN’s Brett Okamoto was the first to report that Ankalaev vs. Santos will headline a UFC Fight Night card on March 12, 2022. The fight is set to be a five-round fight between the two light heavyweight contenders. Take a look at the fight announcement below of this awesome 205lbs matchup.

Alright … Magomed Ankalaev ( @AnkalaevM ) has looked like the real deal as of late. We’ll know for sure after this one. Ankalaev vs. Thiago Santos ( @TMarretaMMA ) is in the works to headline a UFC Fight Night on March 12, per sources.

Santos (22-9) is the No. 5 ranked light heavyweight in the UFC. The 37-year-old Brazilian is coming off of a decision win over Johnny Walker in his last fight, in what was a dreadful fight for the fans to watch. Still, Santos desperately needed to win that fight after losing three straight fights prior to that, so it was important for him to just get the win and that’s exactly what he did. But it makes you wonder if the old, explosive KO artist Santos of old is still out there, or if he is now more of a point fighter instead.

Ankalaev (16-1) is the No. 6 ranked light heavyweight fighter on the UFC roster. The 29-year-old Russian is 7-1 overall in the UFC and is coming off of seven straight wins, including a decision victory over Volkan Oezdemir at UFC 267 last month. Some observers have suggested that Ankalaev could be a future champion in the UFC light heavyweight division and a win over Santos would be huge for his career.

Who do you think wins this upcoming fight between Magomed Ankalaev and Thiago Santos?
