Mikey Musumeci submits Shinya Aoki with his own move, “Aoki lock”

Grappling sensation Mikey Musumeci continues to shock the world with his talents as he took on arguably his toughest challenge to date and made it look easy.

Musumeci submitted mixed martial arts legend Shinya Aoki in the opening minutes of their grappling bout on the main card of ONE Championship’s ONE Fight Night 15 from Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

Not only did Musumeci submit Aoki quickly, but he did it with his own move, the Aoki lock. According to GrappleArts.com, “The Aoki lock is essentially an inside heel hook which is a submission that twists the leg in an outward direction. As such this attack can damage a number of ligaments in the foot and knee, and even result in broken bones in the ankle.”

The 27-year-old Musumeci, a black belt is four-time World Champion and Pan American Champion in colored belts. He is also a five-time IBJJF black belt World Champion (four times in Gi and once in No-Gi), and the first American to win more than one IBJJF World title at black belt. “Darth Rigatoni” Musumeci is also the current ONE Championship flyweight submission grappling champion.

The 40-year-old Aoki is a professional competitor since 2003, and is noted for being the DREAM Lightweight Champion, former two-time ONE Lightweight World Champion, former WAMMA Lightweight Champion and former Shooto Welterweight Champion.
