Miranda Maverick previews her UFC Vegas 32 matchup against Maycee Barber
Miranda Maverick and Maycee Barber are both in similar positions in their careers. They’re young, talented and are both ranked in the top 15 in the official UFC flyweight rankings.
Given that they are the two youngest fighters in the rankings, the two knew that they would eventually crossed paths in the octagon. They imaged that day would come when they reached the top of the division, but has it turned out, the two will meet in just a few days at UFC Vegas 32 on July 24.
In the lead up to their fight, Maverick, who is unbeaten under the UFC banner, went out to Las Vegas to train with top bantamweight contender Aspen Ladd and fellow ranked flyweight contender Andrea Lee at the UFC Performance Institute.
After a few great weeks on training in the fight capitol of the world, Maverick returned to Virginia to finish out her camp. While in Virginia, Maverick’s last opponent Gillian Robertson joined her to train. Robertson also fought Barber in 2019 in which Barber picked up a first-round TKO victory.
Prior to UFC Vegas 32, Maverick spoke to MyMMANews about her training camp, her thoughts on Barber as opponent, if this will be the first of several meetings with Barber and life as a student athlete.
