The entire mixed martial arts community is saddened tonight after learning that a true pioneer in the sport, Kevin Randleman, 44, has unfortunately passed away.
Randleman, no stranger to health concerns after facing certain death due to a horrific staph infection several years ago, had recently gone to the hospital with pneumonia and passed away after heart failure.
Randleman’s passing was confirmed by his a family members on Facebook just a short time ago.
He began his professional mixed martial arts journey back in 1996 and eventually working his way to the Ultimate Fighting Championship beginning at UFC 19 on March 5, 1999.
While his fame began in the UFC, he also was a huge star in Pride Fighting Championships and Strikeforce. He was a good friend to Mark Coleman and the Hammer House gym.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Randleman’s family and friends. We are truly sorry for your loss.
