Nate Diaz is a free agent, removed from UFC roster

Arguably one of the UFC’s biggest stars is no longer on the promotion’s roster.  Nate Diaz (21-13) is officially a free agent after officially parting ways with world’s most notorious mixed martial arts promotion.

Diaz, winner of the Ultimate Fighter Season 5 in 2007, fought 27 times for the UFC over his illustrious 15-year tenure with the company.

After his most recent fight, a fourth-round finish over Tony Ferguson at UFC 279 in September, Diaz made it known that he was going to test the free agency market after completing his UFC contract.

Diaz, who may still compete with other promotions sometime in the near future, has also expressed interest in becoming a promoter for a brand that he calls “Real Fight Inc.”

Following the conclusion of UFC 279, UFC President Dana White wished Diaz the best of luck in the future.

“Whatever he moves on to do, I wish him nothing but the best,” White said. “He’s starting his own organization or getting into promoting or doing something else, I wish him nothing but the best of luck. It’s been awesome having him here.”
