PFL to go overseas for the first time: Events in Wales and London announced

The Professional Fighters League (PFL) will go international for the first time this year for the playoffs of the 2022 tournament.

The PFL announced their playoff event locations today which includes Cardiff, Wales, and London, England after making a stop in New York City.

“We’re thrilled to announce our international partnership with Live Nation as the world’s top music and entertainment promoter makes its move into the world’s fastest growing sport,” said PFL CEO Peter Murray. “MMA fans in the United Kingdom will experience PFL’s star fighters battle it out for a shot at the PFL World Championship and the $6 million dollar prize money.”

With the first round of the regular season in the books (standings here), the second round will begin in June and will go through July.

Just one month after, the playoffs are set to begin. Since we do not know the results of the upcoming round of the regular season, we do not know who will be on the respective playoff cards. However, we will keep you updated here at MyMMANews following the events.

The pathway to the 2022 PFL World Championships and $1 million purse that comes with it will begin with a field of 24 fighters across six divisions. Each of the three Playoff events will feature the top-four fighters across two weight divisions battling to earn a spot in the final – the biggest night in MMA – with no other sports league able to match the thrilling action in this win-and-advance, lose-and-go-home format.

The PFL’s overseas debut is not only great for the promotion, but it is great for the sport, and we congratulate the PFL on the big accomplishment.

Who do you see making it through the playoffs this year?
