Louis Neglia - Ring of Combat

Ring of Combat 65 preview with Louis Neglia

I doubt there are many regional mixed martial arts promotions that can match the 130+ fighters who have gone through their cage and onto the UFC that Louis Neglia’s Ring of Combat can claim. Four former world champions (Frankie Edgar, Chris Weidman, Matt Serra, Eddie Alvzrez) are among the many talented competitors that have put work in the ROC cage.  At just about any event that Ring of Combat hosts, you have a very high likelihood of seeing multiple future UFC fighters.  The crowd is always filled with them rooting on teammates and possibly working corners.

On September 21, inside the Showroom at the Tropicana Casino Hotel and Resort, ROC 65 will be another loaded card with much of the best talent looking to follow in the footsteps of their predecessors.

I was fortunate enough to grab a few minutes with the legend himself, Louis Neglia to go over some of the night’s action.  Neglia is a pioneer of the sport and someone I truly look up to as he has provided so many great opportunities to young men who want to reach their dreams.  Please listen in to the entire interview below.  We talked about numerous fights including…

The main event features the defending featherweight champion, Bill ‘ Senor Perfecto” Algeo vs Scott “the Animal” Heckman.  Whoever wins this battle between two of the most respected fighters in the region, could very easily be making their next appearance in Dana White’s, The Contender Series.

The co-main event will be rising star and defending bantamweight champion, Phil “the Hitman” Caracappa welcoming back after a two and a half year hiatus, UFC  veteran, Louis “Goodnight” Gaudinot.  This could be fight of the night according to Lou.

Giorgio Kudukhashvili takes on Saidyokub Kakhramonov in a title elimination bout.  These gentlemen have 1 loss between them with the winner being granted a title shot in their next fight.

Chris Daukaus, who has been finishing everybody lately, meets Edwin Smart in a heavyweight throwdown.

UFC vet Jeff Lentz accepts the challenge of Tim “the Jaguar” Dooling

Chris Disonell vs Joe Schick and Sydney Outlaw vs Krysztov Kulak are also two fights to keep an eye on.

Other fights are also on the card that we didn’t get to chat about, but Lou and Dead Serious Promotions once again have a huge night planned on the 21st.  We will be cageside for up to the minute results and a full recap.
