Sara McMann signs multi-fight deal with Bellator

Sara McMann, a one-time UFC title challenger has inked a multi-fight deal with Bellator.

McMann completed her UFC contract when her UFC Vegas 60 fight against Aspen Ladd was canceled due to Ladd failing to make weight. Once her contract was complete, McMann became a free agent and now according to MMA reporter Ariel Helwani, McMann has signed an exclusive multi-fight deal with Bellator.

According to the report, McMann will compete at featherweight. However, as of right now, there is no word on when she will make her promotional debut or who she will fight in her debut. Yet, it is a welcomed addition to the featherweight division which has been adding more talent and is another fresh name for champion, Cris Cyborg to fight.

Sara McMann (13-6) has not fought since March at UFC Columbus when the 42-year-old earned a decision win over Karol Rosa. The former Olympic silver medalist competed in the UFC since 2013 and even fought Ronda Rousey for the bantamweight title in 2014, but lost by first-round TKO in the main event of UFC 170.

The 42-year-old went 7-6 in the UFC with her other wins over Lina Lansberg, Gina Mazany, Alexis Davis, Jessica Eye, Lauren Murphy, and Sheila Graff. McMann also fought some of the best in the sport in her career as she fought – but lost to – the likes of Miesha Tate, Amanda Nunes, Julianna Pena, and Ketlen Vieira among others.

The current Bellator featherweight rankings is as follows:

  • Champ – Cris Cyborg
  • 1: Cat Zingano
  • 2: Arlene Blencowe
  • 3: Sinead Kavanagh
  • 4: Leah McCourt
  • 5: Pam Sorenson
  • 6: Dayana Silva
