Savannah Marshall KOs Femke Hermans: Sets up Claressa Shields Super Fight

United Kingdom native and women’s WBO middleweight champion Savannah Marshall put all doubts to rest last night in her bout against Femke Hermans.

It took Marshall just three rounds to flatline Hermans, setting up a title unification super-fight with Claressa Shields.

As soon as the bout was over, Marshall shifted her attention from Hermans to Shields. In the aftermath of the knockout, Shields stormed the ring and met Marshall in the middle. The two exchanged words and were eventually separated by security.

This is not the first time the two have gotten into it. Just watch the heated altercation between the two after Shields title defense against Ema Kozin back in February.

In her post-fight interview, Marshall told Sky Sports “it’s me and Claressa in the summer now.”

Marshall continued, “I know Clarissa can’t handle my power. I know when I land on Claressa it’ll be goodnight.”

Shields (12-0-0, 2 KOs) currently holds the women’s WBA, WBC, IBF, and The Ring middleweight straps while Marshall (12-0-0, 10 KOs) holds the women’s WBO middleweight title.

The two have slowly been building their potential match-up over the last few months, and with Marshall’s vicious KO yesterday, it is clear this is the fight that needs to happen.

Though a date or location has yet to be announced, BOXXER promoter Ben Shalom stated that the bout will take place this summer.

We will let you know here at MyMMANews when the bout is officially announced.
