Scott Heckman vs Bill Algeo, Ring of Combat 65

Scott “The Animal” Heckman knows what is at stake in epic battle of champ vs champ at Ring of Combat 65

On September 21, one of the most anticipated fights I can ever remember on the Pennsylvania/New Jersey regional MMA scene is scheduled to take place.  Louis Neglia and Dead Serious Promotions will be hosting Ring of Combat 65  at the Tropicana Hotel and Casino Resort in Atlantic City, NJ.

The main event will pit the defending ROC bantamweight champion, “Senor Perfecto” Bill Algeo (10-3) vs the Maverick MMA 145 lb champion, Scott “the Animal” Heckman (27-8).  Heckman, after a brief retirement, has won seven consecutive fights and is seeking out that high-profile fight to perhaps get him over the top and directly onto the radar of the UFC.

“Bill and I were on the same card years ago.  I always thought that we may eventually fight. I noticed that he’s been on a winning streak and has defended his title a few times and I felt the timing was right for this.  He is at the top of his game and so am I.”  Heckman told me when I spoke to him on a recent phone call. (Full interview below)

“The Animal” has been able to stay healthy and successful  for a long time and now at 34 years old, faces the toughest test of his career.  Scott has matured and learned much throughout his 35 fights. He has a a sense of urgency and is very confident that he is peaking at the right time.  He’s been training at several facilities including his home of 10th Planet Jiu-Jitsu in Bethlehem ,PA as well as spending time at both Pure MMA working with the Main brothers and Tiger Schulmann MMA with Jimmie Rivera, Julio Arce and Shane Burgos.

Both Algeo and Heckman have next level talent and mindsets. They also both are immensely popular and have strong supporting casts who will be very vocal and ready to bring the house down. An epic, champ vs champ battle in the final fight of the night and I’m thrilled to be cage-side for MyMMANews with live updates, results, and photos.  This event will also be streamed live on FloCombat.
