Sean O’Malley signs new 8-fight deal with UFC

One of the UFC’s biggest stars, Sean O’Malley, has signed an eight-fight contract extension with the promotion.

Sean O’Malley announced the news today on his podcast, which was also verified by UFC President Dana White.

“I got a very gracious contract that I’m proud of,” O’Malley said. “I got a number that I’m very happy with. I truly don’t think any manager that I had could have went in there and got me what I got. That also helps with the relationship built with the UFC. I feel like I have earned this contract. I feel like I have earned the amount that I’m getting paid.”

The 28-year-old fighter currently holds a professional mixed martial arts record of 16-1.  His lone loss was to Marlon “Chito” Vera in the summer of 2020.  Since then, O’Malley has racked up four wins and one bout against Pedro Munhoz that was ruled a no-contest.  In his most recent outing, O’Malley picked up a split decision win over former bantamweight champion Petr Yan at UFC 280.  It is expected that “Suga” will face current champion Aljamain Sterling, although that fight has not yet formally been announced.
