Steve Garcia discusses his UFC 287 knockout win

Steve Garcia had a great comeback win at UFC 287.

In his fight against Shayilan Nuerdanbieke, Garcia got off to a bit of a slow start.

Nuerdanbieke was taller, longer and bigger than Garcia and he used all of that to his advantage early on as he rocked Garcia with a big punch that sent Garcia to the canvas.

After the knockout, Nuerdanbieke would try to tee off with ground-and-pound, but Garcia was able to avoid taking any more serious damage and worked his way back to his feet.

Once Garcia got back to his feet, he quickly turned the fight around.

In the closing moments of the first round, Garcia landed a massive punch of his own that rocked Nuerdanbieke and that sent Garcia back to his corner after the opening round feeling super confident.

Then in the second round, the fans didn’t get too see too much action.

Just 36 seconds into the second round, Garcia won the fight by way of a knockout as he landed a big right hook that landed clean and hurt Nuerdanbieke badly. After that, Garcia followed up with a body shot and Nuerdanbieke went to the canvas curled up and the referee stopped the fight.

The win was big for Garcia has it builds off his last win against Chase Hooper and it gives him wins in three of his past four fights.

Following the win, Garcia spoke with MyMMANews about his performance, what its like having his father in his corner, training at Jackson Wink MMA and his thoughts on the UFC 287 main event in which Israel Adesanya won his title back by finally beating Alex Pereira.
