On Friday, June 30, 2017, Jeremy Puglia (Vamos) is scheduled to battle Vincent DeRiso (Bellmore Kickboxing) for the Triton Fights vacant middleweight title. This main event of Triton Fights 3 is between two of Long Island’s toughest amateur MMA middleweight fighters. Triton Fights matchmaker, Eugene Perez is excited about this title bout because of the potential for fireworks.
Puglia (4-1), a solid fighter with heavy hands and pure strength. Deriso (6-2), an experienced fighter that brings a combination of heart and skills into the cage. These two fighters are very similar in numerous ways. Puglia and DeRiso, have both fought at different weight classes before coming to middleweight. They both possess knock out abilities. Plus, these two men have the capability of finishing a fight no matter the geography of a fight.
These two fighters have the potential to earn Fight of the Night honors. Each fighter possesses the power in their hands to end their opponents evening early with a single punch. In addition, both gentlemen have the heart and grind to extend the bout thru the full three three-minute rounds.
Triton Fights middleweight champion, Eric Ott (Long Island MMA) has taken the leap to fight professionally, therefore leaving the Triton Fights middleweight crown vacant. Ott’s professional MMA debut has yet to be scheduled.
Puglia fights out of Vamos BJJ and No Limits Kickboxing. He’s coached by professional fighter, Rick Schaefer. The 4-1 fighter is set to take on his toughest challenge this Friday night. The Vamos BJJ fighter is currently on a two-fight win streak. A TKO win over Jamal Pottinger in the first round and a three round war verse Diogo Machado, which took place at Triton Fights 2.
DeRiso looks to improve his amateur record to 7-2. The Bellmore Kickboxing fighter holds a three fight experience advantage over his opponent. DeRiso is coming off a loss via TKO verse Craig Brian May in November of 2016. Before suffering a loss in his last fight, DeRiso was on a four-fight win streak.
