UFC Brasilia results: Renato Moicano quickly submits Damir Hadzovic in lightweight debut

On Saturday, March 14, 2020, the UFC returns to Brazil for UFC on ESPN+ 28 and with the outbreak of Coronavirus, the event will be closed to fans and media.

UFC Brasilia takes place at the Ginásio Nilson Nelson and will be headlined by a lightweight bout between Kevin Lee and Charles Oliveira.

In a lightweight bout, Renato Moicano will take on Damir Hadzovic on the event’s main card. Moicano will make his 155-pound debut as he looks to snap a two-fight losing streak. After submitting Cub Swanson at UFC 227, Moicano was finished in back-to-back fights by Jose Aldo and Chan Sung Jung which lead to the move up a weight class.

Hadzovic will look to get back to his winning ways after dropping a unanimous decision to Christos Giagos at UFC Stockholm in June. Prior to that, “The Bosnian Bomber” had won back-to-back fights over Nick Hein and Polo Reyes. The 33-year-old Hadzovic enters the fight with a 3-3 record in the UFC.

Here is how the lightweight bout between Renato Moicano and Damir Hadzovic went down at UFC Brasilia, including round-by-round scoring. For full event results, check them out right here.

ROUND 1

Can we get the first finish of the night in Brasilia? We shall see as both men take the center of the Octagon. Moicano lands a left hook and gets a takedown. Moicano takes Hadzovic’s back immediately, body triangle as well. Moicano locks in the rear naked choke and gets the quick tap. Both men are jaw jacking after the fight and Moicano is bleeding from the left eye — maybe that is why he is so angry.

Official result: Renato Moicano def. Damir Hadzovic via submission (rear naked choke) – Round 1, 0:44

After the result was read, Moicano said his frustration stemmed from the fact that there were no fans in the building in his hometown, then called out Paul Felder.
