UFC Fight Night 132 Results - Donald'Cowboy' Cerrone vs. Leon Edwards

UFC Fight Night 132 otherwise known as UFC Singapore because it takes at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore kicks off bright and early for fights fans here in the United States on Saturday. The June 23 fight card gets a 4:30 a.m. EST start on UFC Fight Pass.

A pair of welterweight headlined the card in Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone and Leon Edwards while light heavyweights Tyson Pedro and Ovince Saint Preux served as the night’s co-main event.  Also, two rising female flyweights in Jessica Eye and Jessica-Rose Clark were featured on the main card.

Fight fans witnessed two extremely close split decision fights in the opening bouts of the night.  First Ji Yeon Kim narrowed out a win over Melinda Fabian. Two fights later Matt Schnell and Naoki Inoue went toe-to-toe for three rounds it was the American who edged out the scorecards.  In between those two decisions Ulka Sasaki pulled out a rear-naked choke submission win over Jenel Lausa in the second round of their three round affair.

Yan Xiaonan dominated Viviane Pereira for three full round en route to a unanimous decision victory.  Yan, a native of China, moves to 9-1 as a professional.

Jake Matthews made quick work of Shinsho Anzai, bloodying him up with some strikes, then forcing a tap by way of rear-naked choke in just under three minutes.  Impressive win for Matthews.

Hector Aldana returned from a three year absence in the sport to meet Song Kenan in the center of the octagon.  Aldana receives a split right on the eyelid.  A complete separation, very dangerous situation, but the fight is allowed to continue.  The two combatants continue to exchange hands until Kenan catches Aldana once again with a big right hand, drops him, swarms in and continues the assault before the contest is called to an end.

What a fun first round between Rolando Dy and Shane Young.  Young backs Dy up against the cage as he tees off.  Dy appears to be out on his feet but bounces back and stuns Young.  Young takes him down.  They get back to their feet and continue to pummel one another in the pocket.  Young should get the advantage on the scorecards here in the first round.  Great fight thus far.  Dy begins to leak around the left eye in the second round.  He is a bloody mess.  Young continues to push forward, landed clean power punches, drops Dy and picks up a TKO win.

Song Yadong put Felipe Arantes away with just one second left in the second round.  Yadong was taking a breather when he decided to throw an elbow that connected and knocked Arantes out, dropping him to the canvas immediately.

Petr Yan was super impressive in his UFC debut.  He dropped Teruto Ishihara in the main event on the preliminary portion of the card.  Ishihara works back to his feet.  Yan lands a spinning elbow that hurts Ishihara.  Yan follows up with big punches and the fight is called off.  Yan does a celebratory flip and gets his first UFC win.

Li Jingliang defeated Daichi Abe in the opening fight on the main card.  Jingliang bullied and beat up Abe for three straight rounds to earn a unanimous decision.

Jessica ‘Evil’ Eye has found a home at 125-pounds earning a second win at flyweight.  Eye earned a unanimous decision win over Jessica-Rose Clark and said that she was never meant to be a bantamweight.

The veteran Ovince Saint Preux came through with a quick first round armbar submission win.  When asked who he wants next OSP said, “It doesn’t matter.”

Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone and Leon Edwards went to war.  Cerrone, split to the side of his right eye is battered and bloodied but not out of the fight.  As his blood leaks across the canvas Cerrone continues to push forward knowing that with a loss he would be 1-4 in his last 5 UFC fights, not a good place for any fighter to be.  This was a back and forth brawl but Edwards edged out a decision scoring 48-47 on all judges’ scorecards.
