Vovka Clay looks to extend pro MMA record (8-2) Combat Zone 68 main event

Vovka Clay, one of the most exciting and fastest rising pro fighters on the regional MMA scene, headlines the main event of the stacked Combat Zone 68 “The Return” card when he climbs into the steel cage to take on Oklahoma invader J.R. Coughran on Saturday, November 17 at the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel in Downtown Manchester, New Hampshire.

“KGB” Clay (8-2), who hails from Amherst, NH, was crowned the new MMA Pro Featherweight king with a statement win over the previously undefeated and Maine state champion Aaron Lacey in the main event of Combat Zone 64 “Glory” in November 2017 in his last bout. Clay puts his five-fight win streak on the line against Coghran (6-1), who fights out of Edmund, Oklahoma and has been a force in the Southwest.

Combat 68 “The Return” promises an exciting and action-packed full night of 11 pro and amateur MMA fights and features some of the best talent on the Northeast fight scene, including the undefeated and exciting pro Brendon Marotte (3-0) from Hampstead, NH, seasoned veteran Ray Shawdee (5-3), who owns and is the head coach of New England Top Team in Salem, NH, and Jake “The Gorilla” Pilla from Billerica, MA, who is making his long-awaited professional debut after a stellar 6-2 amateur career.

The co-main event is a particularly intriguing fight as it pits Hampstead’s Dave George (2-1), who is the former owner and matchmaker of Combat Zone, against Dave Espino (2-2) and marks the successful businessman’s return to the inside of the cage after an extended absence.

Tickets range in price from $40 for General Admission to $120 for ringside seating and may be purchased by calling co-promoter Jamison Kattar at 978-361-6772. For more information, visit www.czmma.com

Doors to the hotel’s Armory Room open at 5:30 PM and the first fight begins at 7:00 PM. Parking is available in the hotel garage or in Manchester’s downtown area, and the Hilton (603-625-1000) offers special room rates for fight fans.

Combat Zone is New England’s longest running mixed martial arts and kickboxing promotion and is co-owned by UFC fighter Calvin Kattar and Jamison Kattar.
