Weili Zhang vs. Amanda Lemos – Preview and Prediction
Weili Zhang and Amanda Lemos will meet in the co-main event of UFC 292 with Zhang’s strawweight title on the line.
If you’re a fan of power then you’ll love this fight as both ladies are strong and look to finish fights.
With that being, let’s preview the fight and predict the winner. You can also watch the preview and prediction of the UFC 292 co-main event in the video above.
Breakdown
Zhang is a star and the Chinese fighter is currently in her second stint as the queen of the 115 pound division. She is well rounded, strong and has faced so many great opponents in her time with the UFC, not to mention she was apart of the greatest women’s MMA fight of all time with Joanna Jedrzejczyk.
Lemos on the other hand hasn’t faced the best competition. She lost to fellow Brazilian Jessica Andrade, who while is a former champion, hasn’t looked good recently. Her win over Marina Rodriguez is impressive and that’s how she got this title opportunity, but overall the deep resume isn’t really there.
One key note is that both fighters may have some ring rust as they both haven’t fought in nine months.
Also another thing to note is that Lemos has never went into fourth or fifth rounds in her career.
Tale of the Tape
Lemos is two years older at 36 and she also has a very slight reach advantage. Outside of that, this two ladies are pretty much identical.
Oddmakers
The oddsmakers are big on the Zhang bandwagon. DraftKings, FanDuel, Bet MGM and Unibet are all favoring Zhang to retain her title. In fact, at the beginning of fight week, they all have Zhang over a -300 betting favorite.
Prediction
Both girls have power and like to finish fights so Lemos absolutely has a fighting chance here, but its so hard to go against Zhang.
Zhang isn’t going to be at a size disadvantage, she has faced the much better competition, she also has fought in five title fights and the oddsmakers love her.
Again, not a fan of both fighters being off nine months so can ring rust someone here. Yes. Will it? That’ll be answered.
With all that being said, this fight will not go the full 25 minutes.
Zhang gets the stoppage and retains her title.
