Arnold Allen vs Movsar Evloev added to UFC 297
We’ve got a very intriguing featherweight bout coming to us early next year between a pair of contenders in no. 4 ranked Arnold Allen (19-2) and no. 9 ranked Movsar Evloev (17-0), who will face off at UFC 297.
UFC 297 is to go down on January 20, 2023, live from a to be determined venue in Toronto, Canada.
Former M4TC lightweight champion Arnold Allen has been nearly perfect thus far into his promotional tenure, only losing to former champion Max Holloway earlier this year in April following a 10-0 start to his UFC journey.
The Englishman flew under the radar for some time there, quietly picking up win after win, seeing him defeat the likes of former Strikeforce lightweight champion Gilbert Melendez (UD), Nik Lentz (UD), no. 12 ranked Sodiq Yusuff (UD), no. 9 ranked lightweight contender Dan Hooker (TKO), and most recently no. 7 ranked Calvin Kattar (TKO) last October.
This led up to his second-straight main event slot opposing Max Holloway, who he did very well against, and also won the fifth and final round against. That’s something no one aside from current featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski has been able to do.
Now he looks to get back to his winning ways by defeating an undefeated Russian phenom in January.
Movsar Evloev has been perfect thus far into his UFC career, coming over with a record of 10-0 as the three-time defending M-1 Challenge bantamweight champion, winning the title via second round KO before unifying it via five round unanimous decision, and defending it via third round rear naked choke submission and fifth round KO respectively.
Upon Evloev’s UFC debut he’d go back up to 145 lbs, and has won seven-straight fights against the likes of Seung Woo Choi (UD), Enrique Barzola (UD), Mike Grundy (UD), Nik Lentz (SD), Hakeem Dawodu (UD), no. 13 ranked Dan Ige (UD), and Diego Lopes (UD).
Who comes out of this affair of 29-year-old studs on top at UFC 297?
