Andre Ewell vs Chris Gutierrez added to UFC 258

A late addition has been added to UFC 258 as Andre Ewell will face Chris Gutierrez.

Factory X, the gym where Gutierrez trains, broke the news on Twitter that Gutierrez and Ewell have agreed to a short notice fight for this Saturday. The weight class is uncertain but perhaps it will be at featherweight or a catchweight given both men are taking this fight on short notice.

Andre Ewell was supposed to fight Cody Stamann at UFC Vegas 18 last Saturday but a false positive COVID-19 test removed him from the card. Before that, he picked up back-to-back split decision wins over Irwin Rivera and Gutierrez’s teammate in Jonathan Martinez. In his UFC tenure, Ewell is 4-2 with his only losses to Marlon Vera and Nathaniel Wood. He also holds a notable win over Renan Barao.

Chris Gutierrez, meanwhile, has not fought since he fought to a draw against Cody Durden in August. Before that, he was on a three-fight winning streak with wins over Vince Morales, Geraldo de Freitas, and Ryan MacDonald. His lone loss in the UFC was a submission loss to Raoni Barcelos. He also holds notable wins over Timur Valiev and Ray Rodriguez before getting into the UFC.

UFC 258 airs live on pay-per-view Saturday, February 13 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada. In the main event, Kamaru Usman defends his welterweight title against his former teammate, Gilbert Burns.

UFC 258 is now as follows:
