Tyson Fury, Francis Ngannou

Anthony Joshua says Tyson Fury “looked like a flat slob that just can’t fight” against Ngannou

There has been no love lost in the war of words between heavyweight boxing rivals Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury.

While Joshua and Fury have yet to meet inside the ring, the two have men have exchanged verbal blows outside just the same.

“He just looked like a flat slob that just can’t fight,” Joshua said of Fury’s presentation in his most recent bout against former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou. “He says that bodybuilders can’t fight, but he got smacked up by one.

“I’ve always wanted to get in the ring with him. He does a lot of talking, calls me a bodybuilder and stuff, but I want to marvel at the African power – he’s a bodybuilder, steps in and smacks him up for me.”

Fury would go on to defeat Ngannou by way of decision, but the victory did not come easy. Going into the matchup, Fury was the betting favorite as the sport’s lineal champ who was taking on a competitor who had never had a professional boxing bout under his belt.

Ngannou knocked Fury down and took the current WBC champion to the judges’ scorecards for a decision.

Joshua, a former holder of the IBF, WBC and WBO titles, returns to the ring against Sweden’s Otto Wallin in Saudi Arabia later this month.

Fury will have the opportunity to fight for all four major belts when he takes on Oleksandr Usyk in February.
