Banger of the Week: Artur Beterbiev vs. Anthony Yarde

The UFC may be off for the week after UFC 283 but that doesn’t mean there isn’t any action in the combat sports world. In fact, the most violent fight comes to us this weekend from the world of boxing. Wembley Arena in the UK gets a treat as the terminator himself, Artur Beterbiev, takes on the UK’s Anthony Yarde in a light heavyweight world title fight.

Artur Beterbiev vs. Anthony Yard: Won’t Go Long

Much has been made of Artur Beterbiev during his meteoric rise in boxing. Since turning pro in 2013, Beterbiev has captured the IBF, WBC, and WBO Light Heavyweight titles. With his 18-0 record, Beterbiev has been a wrecking ball and scored 18 knockouts, a 100% finishing rate.

He’s run through Joe Smith Jr., Marcus Browne, and Oleksandr Gvozdyk in his path, demolishing everything in his way. With three titles, there seems to be an inevitable collision course with he and Dmitrii Bivol, who notched a win over Canelo Alvarez last year.

Anthony Yarde has a 23-2 record and 22 of those come by way of knockout. Yarde fights chaotic and will bring a hellacious fight to Beterbiev that could put himself in danger.

Yarde’s resume isn’t as good as Artur Beterbiev has put together and his two losses come from Lyndon Arthur and Sergey Kovalev. But his fights are always entertaining none the less.

The fight will take place on BT Sport in the UK and ESPN+ in the United States. If you’re a fan of monster knockouts and annihilating of an opponent, this fight is the one for you. With a win, Beterbiev will be one step closer to the much-anticipated showdown with Bivol and fully unifying the light heavyweight division.
