Dennis Buzukja talks winning Maverick MMA featherweight title and wanting a UFC contract

Dennis Buzukja is once again a regional champion and now he’s got his mind set on bigger things.

Earlier this month, Buzukja fought for the Maverick MMA featherweight title against Boimah Karmo at Maverick MMA 21.

In that fight, Buzukja would mix things up on the feet and work in takedowns to win all three rounds on way to a unanimous decision win.

Buzukja was happy with his performance and was honored to have the belt strapped around his waist. While Buzukja is thrilled for another accolade on his professional record, he used his post-fight moment to call someone out instead of celebrating.

On the microphone inside of the Maverick MMA cage, Buzukja called out UFC president Dana White and UFC matchmaker Sean Shelby for a UFC contract.

The call out has taken off on social media, but as of right now, the UFC hasn’t called.

Buzukja has what it takes to make the UFC roster. He trains under long time MMA coach Ray Longo and trains alongside current UFC bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling, No. 2 UFC bantamweight contender Merab Dvalishvili and former UFC title challenger Al Iaquinta.

Aside from coming from a great gym, he also has been great on the regional scene, and he’s fought on Dana White’s Contender Series twice, including this past season where he picked up a win, but wasn’t selected for a UFC contract.

Right now the next move is up in the air for Buzukja as he awaits a hopeful phone call, but in the meantime, he’ll be in the gym staying ready for the next opportunity.

Following his win at Maverick MMA 21, Buzukja spoke with MyMMANews to discuss winning the Maverick MMA featherweight title, his hopes of joining the UFC and how Dragon Ball Z led to him becoming a fighter.

You can watch his full interview in the video above.
