No reason to doubt Frankie Edgar's quick turnaround

Frankie Edgar tells Pedro Munhoz as soon as he’s ready to fight ‘I’ll be waiting’

Frankie Edgar has told Pedro Munhoz he will be waiting for him.

In the co-main event of July 15, Edgar was expected to face Munhoz in his bantamweight debut. It was a fight many fans were looking forward to as it was an intriguing bout where if the former UFC lightweight champion won, many thought a title shot could be in his future.

Yet, on Monday night, it was revealed that Munhoz tested positive for COVID-19 and he is out of his fight. The UFC is searching for a replacement, but whether one will be found is to be seen. So, Edgar took to social media to send a message to Munhoz.

“Sorry to hear you had a positive test @PedroMunhozmma wish you a speedy recovery let [me] know as soon as you’re ready to scrap, I’ll be waiting,” Edgar tweeted.

Frankie Edgar was looking to finally make his bantamweight debut after he was rumored to fight Aljamain Sterling in November. He was then set to battle Cory Sandhagen in January. But, he pulled out of the bout to take a short notice featherweight fight against Korean Zombie.

“The Answer” is currently on a two-fight losing skid where he suffered a TKO loss to Zombie in the main event of UFC Busan. Before that, he dropped a decision to Max Holloway at UFC 240 for the featherweight strap. In his career, he has notable wins over Yair Rodriguez, Chad Mendes, Urijah Faber, and B.J. Penn.

Pedro Munhoz, meanwhile, was looking to get back into the win column after losing a decision to Aljamain Sterling back at UFC 238. Before that, he was on a three-fight winning streak. There, he knocked out Cody Garbrandt, TKO’d Bryan Caraway and a decision win over Brett Johns. In his career, he also has notable wins over Rob Font and Justin Scoggins.
