Invicta 10 FC results – Karate Hottie Dethroned

Invicta FC 10 took place Friday, December 5 at the Arena Theater in Houston, Texas and features an atomweight title fight main event between champion Michelle Waterson and Herica Tiburcio.

The event streamed live on UFC Fight Pass beginning at 9 p.m. EST

The 105-pound division champion ‘Karate Hottie’ Waterson sought to defend her title for the second time. Waterson claimed the title from Jessica Penne who is on this season of TUF 20, back in April 2013. She then defended Yasuko Tamada earlier this year.

The 28-year old champion held a 12-3 professional record and was on a six-fight win-streak.

Tiburcio received the title shot in her first outing in Invicta and shocked the world. She came into the organization currently riding a three-fight win-streak.  She ended up defeating the champion in the third round after dominating the rest of the bout.

In the co-main event “Triple Threat” Tonya Evinger won her bout via armbar submission in the second round solidifying her position as the number one 135-pounder outside the UFC.

Also on the card were former TUF competitors Roxanee Modafferi and Peggy Morgan, both earning victories in their bouts.

The card kicked off with Evva Johnson (1-0) vs Rachael Ostovich (1-1).  The two ladies were each seeking to claim their second professional victory. The fight was scheduled for 125 pounds.  Ostrovich would win the contest via split decision.

Cassie Robb came into the night’s second fight seeking her first professional win as she entered the cage at 0-2.  Her opponent Jinh Yu Frey elected to hand over 25 percent of her fight purse after not making weight and choosing not to try for a second attempt.  Robb would suffer her third loss as she was submitted to a rear-naked-choke in the first round.

Alexa Grasso remains undefeated and is now 6-0 after a 1:47 stoppage of Alida Gray.
