Manager of Conor McGregor hints at UFC comeback in early 2024

Auddie Attar, the manager of MMA superstar Conor McGregor, has hinted at a UFC comeback in early 2024 for his star client.

McGregor has not fought since UFC 264 in July 2021, when he lost via TKO to Dustin Poirier in a fight where he broke his leg. After taking off the last two years, McGregor returned to the forefront of the MMA world when he coached “The Ultimate Fighter” season 31 opposite Michael Chandler, with the two lightweights penciled in to fight by the year’s end. But McGregor’s comeback has continued to be delayed, and after not entering the USADA pool to this point, it appears as though the Irishman will be returning sometime next year as time is running out for him to come back in 2023.

Speaking to MMAjunkie.com’s Farah Hannoun in a recent interview ahead of UFC London, McGregor’s manager Attar gave an update on his star client.

“One of the things everybody forgets is that Conor was one of the most tested athletes when he was competing, and we’re going about things the right way. We’re in active discussions with the UFC, we’ve spoken to USADA, and we’re going to do things the right way. That’s all I’m going to say about that. The thing about Conor McGregor is, people will speculate and stories run wild that are nine times out of 10 very inaccurate and false, so that’s all I’ll say about that. But certainly, he’s looking for a comeback in 2024,” Attar said about McGregor.

Attar said there is still a chance McGregor could fight in 2023, but all signs are pointing to a 2024 return instead.

“You can’t rule out the end of the year, but I think just in terms of where we are right now in terms of the date, it’s likely going to be 2024. I think that’s what the UFC has their sights set on so, we’ll see kind of exactly when that will be,” Attar said.

Do you think the Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler fight will actually end up happening?
