Mass brawl breaks out after Conor McGregor event, several hospitalized

UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor went head-to-head with the UFC last night.  ‘Mystic Mac’ held a Q&A with fans which he streamed live via pay-per-view while the UFC held their Denver card headlined by Valentina Shevchenko and Julianna Pena.

McGregor went on a rant before the event went live, going after the UFC (the organization who employs him), the WWE, boxing, and more.

I’m so made! Heading to do a Q and A in front of 5000 fans! You read that right. That’s more than UFC attendance tonight. And it’s on PPV at http://www.notoriouslive.co Fuck the UFC. Fuck Floyd. Fuck boxing. Fuck the WWE. Fuck Hollywood. And fuck you too pay me.

According to the Manchester News, a brawl broke out after the event that would leave several fans hospitalized.  The report reads:

“A mass fight people broke out outside EventCity following an evening hosted by mixed martial arts fighter Conor ‘The Notorious’ McGregor.

Several people were left with injuries during the brawl outside the venue after the Irish UFC star had finished hosting a Q&A in front of 5,000 fans.

Police initially said there were reports of ‘up to 100 people’ involved at the fracas.

By the time officers arrived at the venue the fighting had stopped but a number of people were found with injuries. Officers have now established that there were 15 to 20 people involved in the incident.

Initial reports from police had also stated that one person had suffered serious injuries after police were called to the venue just before 4am.

However it has now been confirmed that three men were taken to hospital for treatment to minor injuries.

Detective Inspector John Stainton from Stretford Police Station said: ‘There was a lot of confusion about what happened and how many people were involved in last night’s fighting but we are now clear that there were a maximum of around 20 people involved in the disorder.

‘We are appealing for anyone who saw anything to get in touch as soon as possible. Behaviour like we saw last night is not acceptable and I’m only thankful that there weren’t any more serious injuries.’

One witness said: ‘Hi, just been past EventCity and there is all police in the car park, part of it is cordoned off, quite a few police vans and cars.’

Dana White’s response:

In response to Conor McGregor’s event, UFC President Dana White said:

“When you’re about to do a pay-per-view that you’re charging five bucks to listen to you talk, I’m sure you’ve got to say some pretty crazy s**t, alright?” White said at the UFC on FOX 23 post-fight news conference. “You know how I feel about Conor, I’ve always shown Conor nothing but respect, and if he wants to go down that road with us, let me tell you, it will be an epic fall.”
