Holloway is in an interesting spot. He lost his rematch to Alexander Volkanovski by split decision at UFC 251 and while many people thought he won that fight, it still goes down as a loss on the record and he’s down 0-2 to the featherweight champion.

Trilogies are rare and a trilogy with someone having two victories over someone is even rarer. Holloway made a case for it on Saturday, but I doubt he’s going to get that fight ASAP.

Good news for Holloway is that Volkanovski will be fighting Ortega at UFC 260 and if Ortega wins then Holloway will get a title fight. If Volkanovski retains his title then Holloway may have to wait longer.

Since there’s a lot of moving parts at the moment let’s book Holloway against Magomedsharipov for the time being. That’s a fun fight.

Calvin Kattar
Result: lost to Max Holloway by unanimous decision at UFC Fight Island 7
Next: Sodiq Yusuff

Kattar is tough and strong, but unfortunately for him his was on the losing end of a lopsided decision.

Given the result, I doubt the UFC is going to book him against some ranked in front of him. With that being said I like a matchup with Yusuff.

Right now Yusuff is hot and he’s climbing through the ranks pretty quick. He’s now a perfect 4-0 in the UFC and he is looking for a bigger fight. Cue in Kattar.

Another possible opponent for Kattar would Ryan Hall if he beats Dan Ige in their upcoming fight.

Good news for Kattar is a win gets in back into contention for another shot at fighting a featherweight elite.
