Michael McCaffrey bringing the energy at Maverick MMA 22

Maverick MMA 22 is scheduled for this week at the Wind Creek Casino Event Center in Bethlehem, PA. The main event features Jimmy Drago, who is one of the highest ranked fighters on the regional scene. Many believe it is only a matter of time before Drago winds up in the UFC. But…first things first as he takes on Gabe Barletta for the Maverick MMA welterweight championship.
The entire fight card has many interesting matchups. One young warrior who I have been keeping an eye on is Michael “the Ghost” McCaffrey. I called his debut at AOW where he was very impressive. From his walkout to his energy in the cage, McCaffrey was fun to watch. I was glad to see that he found a solid home at South Jersey BJJ, where they have a nice growing fight team. MyMMANews reached out to the Ghost to learn a little bit about him and his early mixed martial arts career. The 23-year-old bantamweight tells us…
“For my first fight, I really had no real sparring partners. I had very little quality grappling training until a few weeks before the fight. And this fight was against a grappler. I didn’t care. I just went out there and got the job done. When a friend from school, who trains at SJBJJ, told me that they had a fight team, I had to check them out. It’s been great ever since. There are a lot of monsters in the room and it’s just going to help me get better and better. I found a home with great coaches and teammates.”
