Reggie “Educated Hands” Barnett talks solidifying his dominance in BKFC
Interview with Reggie Barnett Jr above
With Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship 12 just a day away, Reggie ”Educated Hands” Barnett is more than eager to put a friendship on hold to settle some business.
On September 11th, BKFC 12 will host a memorial event to honor first responders on the anniversary of the terror attacks that took place on September 11th, 2001. Taking place at Daytona Beach, Florida with Thiago Alves taking on Julian Lane (late replacement for Phil Baroni), in the main event.
In an early candidate for fight of the night, Reggie Barnett will take on Abdiel ”The Nightmare” Velazquez in a bout that was destined to happen, sooner or later. Both fighters are BKFC veterans in the 135lb. division and both have their drive for a W.
We’re gonna see who’s skill set and who’s will over takes the other one,” Barnett bluntly says about the matchup. Emphasizing, “He (Velazquez) doesn’t want to lose again. Me? I’m intent on solidifying my dominance as one of the top fighters in 135 (pound weight class) and also one of the top fighters in bare knuckle in general. And that’s what I plan on doing!”
Barnett is coming off of a second round TKO win over Matt Murphy at BKFC 10. On the same card later that evening, Velazquez would face Dat Gnuyen where he got knocked out in round 1. Barnett won on the night which would trigger a war of words between Barnett and Nguyen.
Pending a win over Velazquez, Barnett could be on a clear path to rematch Johnny Bedford for the BKFC title. With another possibility being Nguyen defeating Bedford in their upcoming match, leaving their potential for Barnett and Nguyen’s grudge match to take place on a future card.
Tune in above as MyMMANews catches up with Reggie “Educated Hands” Barnett, just days before his bout with Abdiel “The nightmare” Velazquez. We speak about his match up ahead of him. He speaks passionately about his newest project, “Educated Minds”, potentially fighting Dat Nguyen or Johnny Bedford again and so much more!
BKFC 12 goes down this Friday, September 11th in Daytona Beach, Florida. You can view the event exclusively on The Bare Knuckle TV App at Bktvapp.com
