Scott Hudson on Austin Tweedy “I’ve got more tools”

Scott Hudson tests skills with Austin Tweedy at Unified MMA 48 on December 16th.

Hudson appeared on Bowks Talking Bouts once again and several subjects were discussed in our conversation. Excerpts from our chat are below.

The temperament when the bout offer versus Tweedy came in

“Well, we were going back and forth with Unified for a while. Originally they wanted to do an event in October. It ended up being they settled on December. Went back and forth with a couple of different opponents. Tweedy was the one who stuck. Yeah, I’m excited to finally get it going with Unified. Them and I have been in talks for a couple of fights now but it never worked out. It’s good.”

“I’ve known about Austin for a while. I think we were tentatively matched up in the past. So I was familiar with him. I think it’s a perfect opponent. He’s got a good record, he is a strong fighter. I think stylistically it makes for a really good fight.”

The stylistic proclivities of Tweedy according to Hudson

“So, he has a lot of power. He’s kind of like an aggressive fighter. Really powerful in his wrestling, really powerful with his hands. I think both of those things are to be respected with somebody like Austin who has the wins under his belt. He’s got a good resume. That being said, I feel like I’ve fought this guy before. I feel like I’ve got more tools in the toolbox than he does. But the tools that he does have, he uses really well.”

Long-time teammate Bobby Poulter also fighting on this upcoming card with Hudson

“Yeah like Bobby’s my main training partner. Him and I do more rounds together than anybody else. At least on my end. We’re friends and I opened a new gym recently and he’s there coaching doing his own thing as well. So we spend a lot of time together. He’s ready, he’s really pushed me to get ready for this fight. He’s got some stuff going on in his life, it’s been super inspiring for me to be alongside him.”

“Yeah, I think we’re both ready to rock and he’s sort of like me. Stylistically we’re pretty similar. I think temperament as well, we’re pretty similar as well so. Looking forward to it, it’s always special when a lot of guys on the crew get to be on the same card…. We’re really friendly with Teshay (Gouthro) and Gabe (Sagman) and all those guys as well. Even though we’re not all in the same room together all the time, we’re a group.”
