Sittichai Sitsongpeenong, a Muay Thai and Glory Kickboxing powerhouse, has signed with ONE Championship. Sitsongpeenong has over 160 thai and kickboxing bouts under his belt and was the Glory lightweight champion.
According to Combat Press, Sitsongpeenong is the third best kickboxer in the world pound for pound. He sits behind Takeru and Marat Grigorian only. Sitsongpeenong joins the lightweight division of ONE who is currently reigned over by Regian Eersel. There are plenty of fantastic fights for Sittichai Sitsongpeenong in ONE including Nikey Holzken.
Getting to know Sittichai Sitsongpeenong
For the uninitiated, Sittichai Sitsongpeenong started fighting at 11 years old in Thailand. He has won the belt at Glory, winning fighter of the year there as well. He clocked in six defenses while with the promotion.
Sitsongpeenong also spent time in Kunlun Fight in 2015 and 2016. In addition to his kickboxing accomplishments, Sitsongpeenong was the Lumpinee Stadium champion in 2014 at 147 pounds.
Sittichai Sitsongpeenong has beat names like Marat Grigorian, Josh Jauncey, Robin Van Roosmalen, Davit Kiria and Murthel Groenhart. He is 11-1 in his last 12 fights.
The ONE Championship Expansion
ONE Championship continues their push into acquiring the largest names in combat sports. The promotion has signed names the likes of Sam-A Gaiyanghadao, Rodtang, Nong-o Gaiyanghadao, and Stamp Fairtex.
The promotion announced they are intending to launch Muay Thai Super Series to find the best talent the sport has to offer. ONE Championship has also announced they will start to host lethwei events as well.
ONE Championship routinely puts on multi-sport events, mixing MMA, Muay Thai, and kickboxing. They’ve also had grappling matches and World Championship boxing matches as well.
