Steven Peterson vs. Seung Woo Choi set for February 6

Steven Peterson and Seung Woo Choi will look to extend their winning streaks to two.

Multiple sources have informed MyMMANews that Peterson will battle Choi on February 6th with contracts already be signed. Currently, the event does not have a location but it will likely be at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas or Fight Island in Abu Dhabi. The event will also take place on Super Bowl weekend, something the UFC hasn’t done in a few years.

Steven Peterson is coming off a highlight-reel spinning backfist KO over Martin Bravo last September in Mexico City. Since then, the Fortis MMA product has been dealing with some injuries. He was expected to return back in February against Aalon Cruz but was forced to pull out due to an injury. The 30-year-old is currently 2-3 inside the Octagon with his other win coming over Matt Bessette. He has losses to Brandon Davis, Luis Pena, where Pena missed weight, and a very controversial decision loss to Alex Caceres.

Seung Woo Choi, meanwhile, picked up his first UFC win last time out as he beat Suman Mokhtarian last December at UFC Busan. Before that, he lost by submission to Gavin Tucker at UFC 240 and in his debut, dropped a decision to Movsar Evloev. He was set to battle Youssef Zalal back in October on Fight Island but was forced to withdraw due to undisclosed reasons. The 28-year-old Korean was competing in promotions like TFC before getting signed to the UFC.

The February 6th event will be headlined by a heavyweight scrap between Alistair Overeem and Alexander Volkov.

With the addition of Steven Peterson vs. Seung Woo Choi the February 6th event is now as follows:

  • Alistair Overeem vs. Alexander Volkov
  • Nicco Montano vs. Karol Rosa
  • Molly McCann vs. Lara Procopio
  • Macy Chiasson vs. Marion Reneau
  • Aliaskhab Khizriev vs. Wellington Turman
  • Julio Arce vs. Timur Valiev
  • Steven Peterson vs. Seung Woo Choi
