Thor Bjornsson vs. Eddie Hall set for March 19th

Thor Bjornsson vs. Eddie Hall set for March 19th

Dubbed as the ‘heaviest boxing match in history,’ there is a new date and location for the matchup between Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson, better known as, Thor Björnsson and Eddie Hall.

The celebrity boxing match will take place on March 19th at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

The fight was originally scheduled for September of 2021, however, following an injury Hall was forced to pull out of the fight. Now, just six months later the two will finally meet in the boxing ring.

The two first met at World’s Strongest Man competitions, where their rivalry first developed. Over the years, the rivalry and trash talking has only gotten more intense. With both men claiming that they are going to knock out the other with little to no challenge, I would expect quite a lot more trash talk as the fight gets closer. Also, do not plan on this fight going much further than the first round.

Since the fight was first announced nearly two years ago, Bjornsson has been continuously training. Despite Hall dropping out of the fight in September, Bjornsson still entered the ring and faced arm wrestling champion Devon Larratt, ultimately defeating Larratt via first-round technical knockout. Bjornsson is primarily known for his strongman records, but also for playing the role of “The Mountain” in the extremely popular show Game of Thrones. With the rise of celebrity boxing, Bjornsson decided to join in on the hype and has been training to take on Hall.

Hall, also well known for his strongman records had also been training to enter the ring since the fight was first announced. The fight will also be his boxing debut. Following his bicep injury, Hall took some time to recover and is raring to get into the ring to face his strongman rival.

There is no announcement of broadcasting information quite yet, but make sure to check back on MyMMANews for further announcements and news on the fight.
