Tyler Goodjohn returns on August 20 against James Lilley at BKFC 27

The sport of bare knuckle fighting has grown immensely over the last four years since it finally came to us here in the states, primarily Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship, or better known as BKFC.

They’ve done a great job of signing a number of mixed martial arts legends, and they also have a lot of homegrown talents that are actively rising the ranks.

BKFC also signs unknown mixed martial artists looking to make a name for themselves, as well as former professional boxers that want to try their hand in a new sport.

This brings us to a recent booking between former professional boxer Tyler Goodjohn and his opponent, MMA veteran James Lilley.

This bout is to take place on August 20, 2022, at BKFC 27, going down live from the OVO Arena in London, England.

Goodjohn went 13-5 as a professional boxer, before debuting in Bare Knuckle Boxing (BKB), and then coming over to BKFC. Since beginning this journey, Goodjohn has gone 3-1, most recently losing to BKFC lightweight champion Luis Palomino in June of last year when he challenged for the title.

Many believed Goodjohn to be the greatest bare knuckle boxer in the world going into that fight, but it was clear he had some adjustments to make following that defeat.

James Lilley on the other hand had 11 MMA fights, going 5-6, before turning to the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship, where he’s gone 1-0 thus far with his 40-second KO victory earlier this year in April.

One could think, this is a perfect match up for Goodjohn to get back on track, to get back to his winning ways; or it’s the perfect chance for an unknown to truly shine with a win over a big name in the sport.

Who do you see coming out on top in this lightweight contest at BKFC 27?  Will it be Tyler Goodjohn or James Lilley?

I became a fan of combat sports when I was 12 years old. I was scrolling through the channels and landed upon Versus, where WEC was televised. Urijah Faber fought Jens Pulver for the second time that night. That's the first fight I ever saw, and I was immediately hooked. So eventually, I began covering the sport in the fourth quarter of 2018, and have since started writing about animals as well.
