Arguably the promotion’s biggest event of the year without a title fight, the Ultimate Fighting Championship will hold UFC 279 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on Saturday, September 10.
Today’s UFC 279 weigh-ins will have the look and feel of a blockbuster event as there will extra security on hand and tons of eyes on the fighters competing on the event after an incident backstage caused UFC President Dana White to cancel yesterday’s press conference.
A welterweight bout between rising star Khamzat Chimaev and UFC fan favorite Nate Diaz, headlines the card.
Former UFC interim lightweight champion Tony Ferguson moves up in weight to meet Li Jingliang in the night’s co-main event slot.
UPDATE: After Khamzat Chimaev missed weight by 7.5 pounds, the Diaz came did not want to take the fight. A new bout between Tony Ferguson and Nate Diaz is reportedly in the works per multiple sources.
Official weigh-ins will take place this morning while the ceremonial weigh-ins will stream live above at 7pm ET.
