After a number of dogs have been “dognapped” in the city of Albuquerque, New Mexico, UFC welterweight Tim Means has offered to do something about it.
“My life is based on fighting, but I don’t have to be forced to be in a fight,” Means said.
The dogs are being stolen from the homes of the pet owners, and then thrown into a vicious ring of dog fighting, where the loser is often put to death.
Means is offering an extra $1,000 from his own purse to the already $5,000 rewards set for the city’s Mayor.
“I’m challenging everybody to come together, throw some kind of money together, make a reward and let’s go find some scumbags,” the UFC fighter said.
“Come on down, let’s get you to sign a waiver, and let’s force you to fight. Maybe not underneath the same terms; we’re not going to fight to the death or nothing like that but we’ll sure give you a whooping.”
Means also runs a youth program that helps to prevent bullying among children. He states that just like with bullying children, he wants to help “break the cycle.”
