Mariya Agapova submits Hannah Cifers

UFC on ESPN 10 results – Mariya Agapova submits Hannah Cifers

Hannah Cifers (10-5) returns to the octagon tonight at UFC on ESPN 10, just two weeks after being submitted in the first round by Mackenzie Dern at UFC on ESPN 9.

The 27-year-old “Shockwave” looks to right her ship after dropping two in a row.  After racking up two wins in the UFC, Cifers dropped back-to-back bouts to Angela Hill and Dern, putting her back up against the wall.

Taking a short notice fight against the rising Mariya Agapova (8-1) is a risky move, but it might just pay off.

Agapova, a native of Kazakhstan, makes her UFC debut after winning two straight under the Invicta FC banner.  She looks to make a splash in the UFC after failing to earn a UFC contract on Dana White’s Contender Series in 2019.  Agapova dropped a unanimous decision to Tracy Cortez that night but then picked up two first round finishes for Invicta.

That risk that Cifers took didn’t pay off unfortunately as Agapova came out guns blazing, attacking her from the get-go, and then submitting her in the first round with a rear-naked choke.

Mariya Agapova wins just 2:42 in round 1.
