UFC on FOX 30 Results – Eddie Alvarez vs. Dustin Poirier 2 from Calgary

UFC on FOX 30 Results

The UFC will host UFC on Fox 30: Alvarez vs. Poirier 2 from the Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary, Alberta, Canada on Saturday, July 28. The fight card tonight featured a rematch before former UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez and rising contender Dustin Poirier. The first fight concluded in a no-contest after an illegal knee.  Tonight an illegal elbow from Alvarez would stand the two competitors back up and it was Poirier who capitalized and finished the contest.

Saturday’s fights began on UFC Fight Pass at 4 p.m. ET. Four additional preliminary-card bouts followed on FOX at 6 p.m. ET, with the four-fight main card airing live at 8 p.m. ET, also on FOX.

Former UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo looked to turn things around as he meets hard hitting longtime UFC Veteran Jeremy Stephens in the co-main event.  This was his first non-title fight in 9 years and Aldo proved why he is the best 145-pounder ever, finishing Stephens in the first.

Also, former women’s strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk took on top ranked Tecia Torres.  Jedrzejczyk wins unanimously.

Devin Powell returned to the first time since rupturing a testicle in training earlier this year.  Powell puts Alvaro Herrera down early with a kick to get the win in the first round.

Nina Ansaroff managed earn points on the judges’ scorecards in two of three rounds against Randa Markos which gave her the unanimous decision win in Calgary.

Dustin Ortiz dropped Brazilian Matheus Nicolau with a beautiful kick and followed him up with some brutal ground and pound before the referee called an end to the contest.

Katlyn Chookagian defeated Alexis Davis with clean, crisp striking, bloodying the long time MMA veteran in the process.  The fight would go the distance but Chookagian’s in and out movement was the tale of the tape.

Ross Pearson made his 25th UFC appearance in an absolute war against John Makdessi in the featured fight on UFC Fight Pass. The crowd went bananas on this fight as Pearson and Makdessi went back and forth for 15 full minutes.  Makedessi pulls off a unanimous decision.

Islam Makhachev, the biggest betting favorite on the card, defeated Kajan Johnson by way of armbar submission in the very first round.

Alexander Hernandez earned a unanimous decision victory over Canadian Olivier Aubin-Mercier to open up the main card on FOX.
