Vitor Belfort last fought in 2018 as he lost to Lyoto Machida via teep. He signed briefly with ONE Championship where he never fought. He was then scheduled to fight Oscar De La Hoya on this card until De La Hoya came down with COVID. It was then that Holyfield stepped in on short notice. Former president Donald Trump is also set to commentate during the main event between Belfort and Holyfield as well. Trump has a history in boxing, having promoted Evander Holyfield vs. George Foreman in 1991.
The co-main is an MMA star boxing crossover. Anderson Silva returns to boxing once again after he defeated Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in June. He won the fight by split decision and fans were ecstatic that The Spider could get the win that he deserved. Tito Ortiz is also a former champion, winning the belt at UFC 25 in 2000 and defending five times before losing to Randy Couture. Silva is coming off of a failed stint as councilman of Huntington Beach where he recently resigned.
Next on the card is Andy Vences who is 23-2 with 12 knockouts. He held the WBC Continental Americas Super Featherweight title back in 2018. His last fight was a bout in 2020 where he lost a split decision to Luis Alberto Lopez. He takes on 19-2-1 Jono Carroll of Dublin, Ireland.
Lastly, undefeated Joe Fournier is taking on a tough challenge in David Haye. Fournier is 9-0 with nine knockouts. Haye is a big step up in competition at 28-4 and 26 knockouts. Hay is coming off of a layoff as he dropped two fights to Tony Bellew in 2017 and 2018 in his last outings. He has a win over Dereck Chisora and challenged Wladimir Klitschko for the belt in 2011 which he lost by decision.
