In just a matter of days, the highly anticipated matchup between Zak Kelly and Brandon “The Mechanic” Cuttino is set to make a statement as the main event of Gut Check Championship Series.

Months in the making, the pair were originally scheduled to compete earlier in 2023. Due to unforeseen circumstances, the bout was canceled, thus, the pair had to reschedule their dance to a later date.

Their initial date got scratched when Cuttino had issues with his paperwork. When the matchup was booked, again, Kelly suffered “a small chip fracture in my leg,” from a sparring session, he says. After several visits with the orthopedic surgeon, Kelly was assured he’d be back to 100% in 8-10 weeks, thus the road to recovery had begun.

Now, with both competitors primed, healthy and ready; They’re slated for the vacant Gut Check 165 lb. Glory rules championship, where both of these competitors are eager to settle the score once and for all.

“It feels great,” Kelly says about returning to the ring. “This year has been a long rollercoaster of close calls to this fight happening and now we’re just a week away. I’m excited,” he continues.”

Kelly Vs Cuttino goes down this Saturday, September 30 in the main event of Gut Check Championship Series for the vacant 165lb Glory rules title.

This bout marks Kelly’s first appearance in competition since 2018. Now being back to 100%, he’s looking to get back to consistency, so long as his body allows.

“I would like to be active. Right now, I feel healthy, I have no injuries, I have no excuses. So, as long as I don’t get injured in the fight, I’d would love to have another fight by the end of the year.”
