Decky McAleenan vs Dan Collins Added to Cage Warriors 134

A lightweight contest between Ireland’s Decky McAleenan (7-4-1) and England’s Dan Collins (5-0) is scheduled to take place at Cage Warriors 134 on Friday, March 18, in London’s Indigo at The O₂. MyMMANews.com confirmed the news with the European MMA promotion on Wednesday morning.

The fight will mark McAleenan’s eighth appearance under the Cage Warriors promotional banner. The Team Torres fighter struggled to find momentum in his two 2021 outings, sharing a draw with Kieran Lister at CW120 in March, before losing via 2nd-round submission to Stevie McIntosh at CW125 in June. The 30-year-old Newry man will be aiming to return to the win column and reestablish himself as a contender in the lightweight division.

Speaking via Cage Warriors, McAleenan expressed his excitement at returning to action in 2022:

“I’m looking forward to getting back into the Cage Warriors cage and putting on a performance in front of a live crowd again. I think this is a great match up for me to get me back in the win column.”

Dan Collins will don the famous yellow gloves for the first time when he makes his Cage Warriors promotional debut vs McAleenan. The Great Britain Top Team fighter boasts an unblemished 5-0 record as a pro, and will look to make a statement against a tough, well-known veteran of the promotion.

Speaking via Cage Warriors, Collins acknowledged the danger that McAleenan presents, but the Londoner is determined to impose his will when the cage door closes:

Good to get back in the cage, as I haven’t been able to get a fight since August. Looking forward to fighting on Cage Warriors and showing what I can do. I know my opponent is good, but I want to make a statement and show everyone on the roster what I’m about. My opponent is dangerous on the feet and on the ground, but I’m looking to dominate wherever the fight takes place

Cage Warriors 134 is headlined by a phenomenal championship fight between featherweight champion Jordan Vucenic and interim champion Paul Hughes. Having previously fought to a contentious split decision in 2020, the pair will collide over five rounds to finally settle their score.
