Edson Barboza, Michael Johnson to co-headline Evans vs. Teixeira

Rashad Evans and Glover Teixeira will headline UFC Ultimate Fight Night Evans vs. Teixeira at the Gigantinho Gymnasium in Porto Alegre, Brazil, Feb. 22.

A lightweight showdown between Edson Barboza and Michael Johnson was recently announced as the co-main event for the night.

Barboza (15-2) is coming off back to back wins over Evan Dunham and Bobby Green, while Johnson (15-8) has racked up three, Joe Lauzon, Gleison Tibau and Melvin Guillard.

Johnson has not fought since that Guillard fight back in March which means it will be close to one full year that he stepped inside the UFC octagon.

Barboza, a native of Brazil will be the hometown favorite.  His only losses came via former WEC lightweight champion Jamie Varner and potential UFC lightweight title challenger Donald Cerrone.

Both Barboza and Johnson are only 28-years old and still need to pick up a few more wins before earning a shot at the title but a win in Brazil will likely set them up for a fight with a top five guy in the summer of 2015.
