Eric Pozun prepares for pro debut at Ring of Combat 74

Eric Pozun is set to make his pro debut this Friday at Ring of Combat 74, as “Viper” will head to Atlantic City to face Robert Varricchio in a lightweight bout.

Pozun posted a 5-2 amateur record after making his debut in 2016. Four of those wins came via strikes, but perhaps his best performance was in his final amateur bout, a unanimous decision over Colin Caprini in November 2020.

He announced his plans to go pro right after the bout, but we’re here almost a year later and the Ohio native is finally making his pro debut. But he had to go all the way to New Jersey to make it happen.

“Apparently going pro within the surrounding states was a little bit more difficult than I thought it was going to be,” Pozun said. “I didn’t think it would be, but it is what it is. So I ended up having to go broader out of state. I was going to take an amateur title fight and the opponent got injured, and it was like, ‘You know what, this is a sign. You said you were going pro, just do it.'”
