Imperial Kickboxing: Resurgence highlights Chicago kickboxing

Mark Imperial has been in the MMA world for sometime now. As a matter of fact, when Mike Pendleton and I hosted him on the SFLC Podcast, you could tell through his experiences, albeit masked through a silky-smooth voice.

Imperial Fighting Challenge started five years ago featuring kickboxing clubs from all around the Chicagoland area. Since that event, a sold-out evening in Addison, Illinois, Imperial hasn’t looked back. This weekend, it returns to BaseCamp in Lisle. As a matter of fact Resurgence has already outpaced ticket sales from five years ago.

“I consider myself a creator,” Imperial stated.

Resurgence will feature a jam-packed card of 15 bouts in May Thai and European-style kickboxing. And as an added bonus, Imperial will also have a demonstration during the evening to show how kickboxing is scored and the variations between the types of kickboxing.

“I’ve had the honor and privilege of visiting every single camp,” Imperial said.

“I cannot pick one fight that is not a must-watch fight on this card,” he continued.

The main event will be a highly anticipated match between Chand Rubbio and Billy Rose. Chand was crowned as a kickboxing champion recently with XFO, also based in Chicago.

The co-main event will feature Jason Davis, fighting out of No Joke/Perfect Moves gym and Robert Lee, representing Chicago Muay Thai.

With eleven fight camps represented in this event, Imperial is proud to have checked in with all camps and that, “everyone is healthy.”

But this is just the beginning for Imperial Kickboxing, Imperial plans to add several shows to 2018 and moving forward.

“We’re planning four-six events a year,” Imperial stated.

“So expect another one around August,” he continued.

Doors open Imperial Kickboxing Resurgence on Saturday May 26th 7 pm with fights at 8 pm at BaseCamp Pub in Lisle, Illinois.
