Mark Godbeer vs. Josh Burns Announced as BYB 9 Main Event

BYB Extreme Fighting Series’ BYB 9 has found a main event. It’s next card on March 12 will feature Mark Godbeer and Josh Burns to face off for the inaugural Police Gazette World Diamond Super Heavyweight belt. In addition to that, JD Burns and Jose Fernandez will fight for the BYB 165 belt. The bare knuckle event will take place in Tampa, Florida.

In addition to the two fights, BYB has signed Seth Shaffer to a multi-fight deal. Shaffer made his bare knuckle debut in December and knocked out Alberto Martinez Jr. in round 3. He will take on Toby Misech who is a Bellator and Contender Series veteran. Also on BYB 9, Erin Toughill will fight Sonya Dreiling, who is a boxing vet. Skylar Burna and Miranda Barber are also set to compete at BYB 9.

BYB President Mike Vazquez is proud of what BYB 9 is bringing to the table in the bare knuckle boxing (fighting) world.

“Once again, BYB is setting the standard in not just bare knuckle boxing, but in all of combat sports when it comes to spotlighting the best and most exciting fighters from across the globe.  Whether proven vets or up and coming talent, our team continually puts together the highest caliber match-ups you’ll find anywhere.”

Vasquez continues, “As we continue to grow, I am also proud of the ongoing partnership and support of The Police Gazette and Bare Knuckle Boxing Hall of Fame, and I am thrilled that they chose BYB to host the matchup for their inaugural World Diamond Super Heavyweight Belt.”

BYB 9 and the Police Gazette Belt

BYB 9 features a main event and is pitting the two super heavyweights against each other for one of the oldest heritage belts in all of combat sports. The Police Gazette was the original sanctioning body for the bare knuckle boxing championship which was founded in 1881. That belt is being resurrected by BYB and will continue the lineage of John L. Sullivan and other bare knuckle boxers (fighters) from the first days of the sport.
