Today, Saturday, October 22, 2022, at 7 PM on UFC Fight Pass, Medusa Female Only Jiu Jitsu 3 will be held at the Speaking Rock Entertainment Center in El Paso, Texas.

Much like its inaugural event, today’s Medusa Female Only Jiu Jitsu event features two 8-woman brackets, a bantamweight (135lb) bracket with EBI rules and a flyweight (125lb) bracket with Combat Jiu Jitsu rules. There is also a special match or two on the card to break things up. You can check out our full preview here.

The EBI ruleset consists of 10 minutes of regulation, as well as three rounds of overtime from the back or spiderweb position if there is no submission within regulation. The combat jiu jitsu ruleset utilizes the EBI ruleset but also allows for open hand palm strikes once the action hits the ground. For CJJ matches there is also a “get down” rule if the match does not hit the ground for a full minute, which requires the competitors to get down on the mat and start from there to allow for the palm strikes. Laura Kent

Laura Kent is a 10th Planet jiu jitsu brown belt who trains at 10th Planet Bethlehem and 10th Planet Allentown under the Finishers MMA banner. She competes regularly and is an avid follower and fan of the submission only competition scene. Laura tries to make an effort to cover some of the local submission only events that get less coverage from mainstream MMA and jiu jitsu news outlets and will regularly cover the Eddie Bravo Invitational and Combat Jiu Jitsu events. Laura is an MMA fan as well, which is a large part of what led her to start her jiu jitsu training.
