Randy Costa

Randy Costa announces he is out of his UFC 259 fight against Trevin Jones

Randy Costa will not make his return to the Octagon on March 6.

Costa was supposed to fight Trevin Jones on the prelims of UFC 259 but earlier this week, “The Zohan” announced on social media he was out of his fight with an injury.

“This def isn’t the post I want to be making rn, but that’s part of the game. It initially happened three-and-a-half weeks ago. I rested it and then it came back significantly worse last week leaving me with really no other option. I need to get it taken care of before it turns into something major. I’ve begun PT and will be back to a full training schedule in two weeks. I’ll be good to go for May and I intend to on fighting then. I’m going to smash this PT so that’s possible. I apologize to everyone who has been looking forward and thank you SO MUCH for the continued support. I also want to apologize to Trevin. I genuinely feel awful for him but this is just an unfortunate part of the game. I’ll be back very soon,” Costa wrote on Twitter.

Randy Costa is coming off a highlight-reel head kick KO over Journey Newson in September. Before that, he picked up his first win in the UFC as he scored a first-round KO win over Boston Salmon at UFC Boston after losing by submission to Brandon Davis at UFC 236.

It is no doubt disappointing for Randy Costa to pull out of this fight. This was a massive spotlight for Costa to be on this stacked card and if he won, and in highlight-reel fashion, he likely would’ve gotten a big step up in competition. However, the focus as he mentions, is on his physical therapy and rehabbing this injury to come back sometime soon.
