However, let’s take a look at a few organizations that certainly stand out from the crowd. What proves their uniqueness and what is their history?
Ultimate Fighting Championship – UFC
Undoubtedly the largest combat sports organization is the Ultimate Fighting Championship, better known by its acronym UFC. The origins of this organization in the United States date back to 1993. For many years it grew rapidly and eventually reached the status of a world power, recognized on all continents. Here generally every fighter dreaming of fame and big money wants to fight. The Ultimate Fighting Championship has so far organized several hundred galas, promoted hundreds of world-class stars in the process, and is the benchmark of all that is best in combat sports. Today, the UFC is organized practically all over the world. Some of the UFC’s best-known fighters include Conor McGregor, Khabib Nurmagomedov and Georges St-Pierre. In fact, every martial arts practitioner dreams of one day fighting for the UFC federation. The history of the UFC, however, has not been a string of successes alone. A great opponent of the organization of such galas was Senator John McCain, who organized a number of protests against the UFC. The senator’s interventions brought some changes – a weight category was introduced, and the referee had the right to stop the fight.
Bellator MMA
It is a relatively younger organization than the legendary and well-known to all combat sports fans UFC. Bellator was founded in 2008 and also began its history in the United States. The organization has also held countless international galas and events. Among the organization’s most important fighters are certainly Fedor Emelianenko, Eddie Alvarez, Rory MacDonald, Michael Chandler, Ben Askren – names familiar to sports fans. The organization does not stand out from the sporting level, and organizationally and financially it is among the best in the world. Admittedly, it’s not on the level of the legendary UFC, but you have to give credit to the Polish authorities that KSW galas have been keeping a high level for years. It’s worth mentioning that KSW is the home of, for example, Jan Blachowicz, the former UFC welterweight champion. The history of the Polish organization goes all the way back to 2004. At that time, one of the organization’s owners, Martin Lewandowski, worked as a manager at the Marriott Hotel in Warsaw. The first four editions of the gala were organized there. Today, events organized by KSW take place not only in Poland, but also in England, Croatia, and Ireland.
