Travis Fulton indicted on child porn charges

Last week, a federal grand jury indicted former professional mixed martial artist, Travis Fulton, on child pornography charges.

The charges were unsealed Friday when Fulton made an initial appearance in U.S. District Court in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The former fighter pleaded not guilty and was detained pending a further hearing.

Fulton, who had been awaiting trial on domestic violence, is now also charged with sexual exploitation of a child, possession of child pornography and receipt of child pornography.

The charges allege Fulton attempted to entice a minor to engage in sexual conduct for the purpose taking pictures with a Canon PowerShot camera in November, according to court records.

He is also accused of possessing a DataTraveler flash drive with child porn involving a child under age 12 between November 2018 and November 2020, according to a report from Jeff Reinitz of WC Courier.

Court documents illustrate that Fulton is awaiting trial for willful injury and domestic assault charges in connection with a September 2019 incident in which he is accused of repeatedly punching a woman in the head and back in Waterloo and threatening to kill her if she talked to police.

The woman suffered injuries to her jaw, nose and palate and was taken to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City for treatment, records state. Both Fulton and the woman named in the report were detained earlier this month for violating a restraining order after they were seen together at the Isle Casino Hotel on January 28.

Fulton is known for being one of the most active athletes in combat sports history, with his official record sitting at more than 300 fights.

He most recently fought in a bare knuckle bout in November 2019, losing by knockout to Richard Carmack.
