Vergil Ortiz Jr. vs. Michael McKinson set for August 6th

Originally slated to meet back in March, Vergil Ortiz Jr. and Michael McKinson are now set to throw down in August.

Ortiz Jr. (18-0-0, 18 KOs) has climbed the boxing ranks since turning pro in 2016. At just 24 years old, he has collected the WBA gold welterweight title, the WBO international welterweight title, and remained undefeated with all wins coming by way of stoppage.

We last saw Ortiz Jr. in August of 2021, when he stopped Egidijus Kavaliauskas in the 8th round.

As the #1 contender in the WBO, WBC, and WBA, Ortiz Jr. will now take on the #5 ranked WBO contender, McKinson.

Also undefeated as a professional, McKinson (22-0-0, 2 KOs) will look to upset Ortiz Jr. come August. Over the course of his career, he has defeated the likes of Luis Alberto Veron, Chris Kongo, and Przemyslaw Runowski. His most recent outing came in March of this year, where he defeated Alex Martin via unanimous decision.

The bout will take place on August 6th at the Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas. It is to be streamed exclusively on DAZN.

What do you make of the matchup and who do you have winning?
